Jenna Blair, Ph.D.

Educational Consultant, Student Advocate, Neuroscientist, Clinician

I was that kid who was mapping out their future in elementary school, always imagining the adventures of college life. Maybe it was growing up near a university or perhaps it was my deep fascination with sound, hearing, language and the intricate workings of the brain. After spending my sixth-grade summer volunteering in my aunt's classroom for autistic children and seeing each student's unique strengths, I knew I wanted to learn more.

From that day forward, I was determined to make a difference. I took challenging coursework, joined a bilingual magnet program, played sports, volunteered, and worked in a research lab after school. If an opportunity to learn or contribute presented itself—I took it.

But my large public high school had overwhelmed counselors. My attempts to get college advice were met with, "Check the board in the hall." Not exactly helpful.

One morning, I overheard my friends cheering about how they’d barely submitted their UC apps before the clock struck twelve. My heart sank. I had missed it! Well, I didn't even know about it. The university with the program I most wanted was now off the table. I felt like crying, panicking, maybe both. Thankfully, my incredible teachers jumped into action. With extra letters of recommendation and heartfelt pleas, the University of California, Santa Barbara agreed to review my application.

Spoiler alert: I got in! But today, you can't rely on last-minute miracles. That's why students need real guidance and mentoring.

College dreams shouldn’t depend on
last–minute miracles.
With the right guidance, they won’t have to.

Our founder, Dr. Jenna Blair, brings her background in brain sciences to the college admissions process. With her research and academic experience, she offers valuable insights to students—particularly those interested in the sciences. Jenna has worked with labs and academic programs nationwide, helping students connect their interests with suitable opportunities.

Her guidance spans all fields: from neuroscience to creative writing to social impact work. She invests time understanding each student's unique strengths and goals, turning what feels like an overwhelming process into something manageable and authentic. Her background as a research consultant and homeschool mom gives her both analytical insight and natural warmth, helping her to connect with high achievers and students still discovering their direction alike.

“Working in the Brainvolts Lab shaped how I think about learning and the brain — it’s complex, adaptive, and deeply individual. Now, I use that perspective to help STEM students pursue their future with purpose and confidence.”

Having walked the path from classroom theory to cutting-edge research, Jenna offers students a unique perspective on succeeding in the Behavioral Sciences and other disciplines. Her laboratory experience investigating the neural pathways of diverse clinical populations has taught her not only the technical skills essential for scientific success, but also the resilience and strategic thinking required to thrive in demanding academic environments. She specializes in helping students bridge the gap between their scientific curiosity and future educational opportunities.

Jenna has been drawn to scientific discovery since high school, when she worked at the Marine Physical Laboratory in San Diego, CA observing underwater acoustic research. That early exposure showed her the power of deep thinking, collaboration, and the challenge of unraveling complex problems.
